Marvel Director Comments on Rumors of Film Abandonment in Post-Production: ‘It Wasn’t That Much of a Drama’
Nia DaCosta has denied a report that claimed she left the film before it was finished.
Last week, an extensive Variety report revealed a number of problems facing Marvel Studios in recent years. One of them suggests Miracles, the next MCU release in theaters, was set to go through four weeks of reshoots, in addition to director Nia DaCosta leaving during post-production. Now the filmmaker has denied the accusations, explaining that she continued to work on the film remotely after constant postponements of the film’s release date.
DaCosta’s statement was made in an interview with Jake’s Take, where she revealed that she had to travel to Great Britain start preparing for your next project, a film Heddadue to contractual obligations, because Miracles continued to receive new release updates. However, this does not mean that the director “abandoned” the Marvel film before its completion, since she continued to perform her role remotely:
“In my case it was because they changed the date [de lançamento] movie four times. They knew from the very beginning that I had a commitment – a film that people were waiting for me to see. And I put it off, and then I put it off again and again. Known for her work in The Legend of Candyman (2021), Nia DaCosta directs and writes the film’s script Miracles, a feature film that will continue Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel universe on the big screen.
