Untamed Malta: Harper Collins confirms release date for new Afrofuturist book
Ale Santos’ new book explores the softer side of ‘The Last Ancestor’
At the 2023 Book Biennale Harper Collins I was impressed by the well-designed stand, full of presentations for different audiences. Besides the classics such as books Lord of the RingsV J.R.R. In a press release, Harper Collins confirmed november launching the next chapter of this universe – Untamed Malta.
The story, aimed at teenagers, explores the city Sumeadjacent to Nagastsky district from the previous book to follow the journey of three young people who dream of becoming bigger: Vic, Cosimo This Mane. In music, in racing and in life, the fate of a trio from the outskirts may change as Selection Day begins an adventure full of action, danger and ancient magic.
The book aims to restore the self-esteem of young black and peripheral people through the lens of fantasy, imagining a world in which they can overcome the challenges of an unequal country without being completely crushed by the system.
“This is a story about discredited young people, those who were so undermined a society in which even they don’t believe in themselves,” explains Ale Santos, “Friendship can become not only the salvation of the fate of the city of Sume, but, above all, a support for building one’s own self-esteem.”
In addition to the derivative book, the Last Ancestor universe will also receive a tabletop role-playing book and an audiovisual adaptation. The exact format, whether it will be a film or a series, has not yet been confirmed. Currently, this project is in the pre-production stage.
WITH 368 pages, Untamed Malta arrives in bookstores throughout Brazil from November 25 with recommended price R$59.90.
