The 90-year-old actor also spoke about the filming of his new film.
With more than 150 acting credits under his belt, Michael Caine confirmed in a new interview that he’s “sort of retired” due to his age and physical condition, saying he can barely record scenes.
In an interview with The Telegraph to talk about his new film, The great fugitive Michael Caine has confirmed that this could be his breakout role. “I’m 90 years old now and I can’t walk properly and stuff. I’m kind of retired now.” – Kane said.
In the film, inspired by a true story, he plays Bernard Jordan, a World War II veteran who escaped from his refuge in England to attend the 70th anniversary of D-Day in France. To play the character, Kane used a cane.
“They gave me a good cane and I was able to do the scenes that needed it. I only did it once and then I fell. Just one take and that’s it. He forgets.”
Showcasing his irreverent tone, Kane also told the magazine: “Everyone will die, at least I lived to be 90.” Speaking about his life, the actor, who appeared on the red carpet for the first time in two years on the 20th, said:
“I had the best life I could ever imagine. The best wife, the best family. This may not be the family that other people would call the best possible… But to me they are the best.”
