Indiana Jones: Karen Allen and Marion were disappointed with their role in “Relic of Destiny”
The actress was hoping for a bigger role in the new film in the franchise.

Indiana Jones hit theaters with a new chapter in the famed archaeologist’s stories, featuring the return of iconic franchise names like Harrison Ford This Karen Allen. The latter, however, stated that she was disappointed with her participation in Relic of Destinysince initially Marion was supposed to play a large role in the plot.
The character, previously known to fans of the franchise and the romantic partner of the adventurer who played the main role in the saga, begins his participation in the new film by filing for divorce. History shows that after the death of Indy and Marion’s son, Matta (Shia LaBeouf), mourning deeply separated the couple – and only after the end of Indy’s new story do they manage to reconcile, in a scene in which the archaeologist consoles his wife in a way he has not done before.
talking to Hollywood ReporterAllen stated that initially, when Steven Spielberg was still going to shoot a new film, Marion’s role in the plot would have been much larger.
“When Stephen [Spielberg] I was still going to make the movie, I didn’t get a chance to read any of those scripts, but I know Marion will be a lot more involved at that point.” She said. “Did you know that James [Mangold, diretor do filme] hired new writers and that we would have a whole new approach with a new director and new writers, but I was moving into the unknown.”
Continuing, she spoke about her disappointment with the move, saying:
“And after that I read the script that told the story [de Relíquia do Destino]and of course I was disappointed. I thought it would be an important part of the film, but that’s not the direction they decided to take.” Allen explained. “I think they had some story issues with Shia LaBeouf not coming back and they decided to create this story that Mutt was killed in the war and that Marion and Indy had gone their separate ways. I mean, I almost fell on my back when I was reading. But I was happy that they got together in the end.”
This feature film, the fifth in the franchise, marks a farewell to Harrison Ford as a character. The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Rubbish) Antonio Banderas (The skin I live in, the Mask of Zorro), Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets) and Boyd Holbrook (sandman).
