‘Harry Potter’ Star John Cleese Defends JK Rowling’s Transphobic Comments
The actor who lived Nick almost headless in Harry Potter came to the defense of Rowling on her social networks!
You transphobic comments JK Rowling is nothing new as she tries to express her prejudices at every opportunity and has even spoken out against a bill to make it easier to change gender and social name in Scotland. Now John Cleeseactor who lived Nearly Headless Nick in the Harry Potter films, decided to defend the writer’s lines in it twitter.
After Rowling share other text on a social network that shares your transphobic views, Cleese made the following comment:
“I’ve asked this question before… If I don’t agree with arguments about being transgender, that obviously makes me a transphobe. So… if someone disagrees with some of my opinions, does that make them a klizephobe? Or hate only flows in one direction.”
Like Rowling, Cleese tries to prove that people who demonstrate that the author and he are transphobic hatredwhile trans community increasingly marginalized, with speeches like Rowling’s and the financial backing of the author wielding great political influence in the UK and around the world. Despite this, it is often said that Rowling attackedcomparing yourself to suffragettes or even saying that their comments are misunderstood.
Cleese he was not the first to defend the writer’s comments; Rowling has previously been favored by actors such as Ralph Fiennes, who lived as Voldemort, and Helena Bonham Carter. However, other actors such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who played Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron, the trio of the main characters of the work, were against the writer’s constant transphobic comments.
