There is a wide variety race (elves, humans, tieflings, gnomes, half-orcs…) and classes (witches, clerics, paladins, druids, bards…), each of which has its own characteristics with its own advantages and disadvantages. Other components such as background, enhance the characteristics that your character may have acquired in the past, and the abilities that you can choose as you progress through the story; this helps ensure that each character is unique.

The Game Master, also known as the Master or DM, acts as the narrator of this story. He sets up and describes the world, controls the monsters to fight, creates quests to be completed, and plays the non-player characters (NPCs) who will interact with the players. He is also the referee who determines how things will work in the game, ensuring that the rules are followed and the story is organized. For the Master, the basic information is in Dungeon Master’s Book and not book of monsters.

However, it is important to understand that the GM and the Players are playing together. While the DM’s role is to challenge and sometimes antagonize the adventurers, both actively contribute to telling a good story and therefore do not contradict each other. Everyone is much more fun when things go without feuds or internal competition.

Once the characters are in place and the DM is prepared – whether that’s creating your own story or using a pre-made adventure as a base – it’s time to start your journey! As the story progresses, players gain experience points and advance through levels, which unlock new abilities and make them stronger.

But if everyone can make their own decisions and act as they please, how do you ensure that everything runs smoothly and in an organized manner? Counting on luck and rolling the dice, of course. To evaluate the success of each attempt, the players and the master roll special dice (the famous d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100) and must overcome a certain number of difficulties to see if they succeeded in what was planned. .
