In the 90s Disney experienced its great “Renaissance” with a series of well-known productions such as The Lion King, Mulan and Mermaid. However, one film stands out during this period: Pocahontaswhich isn’t as bad as the rest of the list, but has a rather…complicated history.

Film, director Mike Gabriel and Eric Goldberg is a masterpiece when it comes to its animation, in addition to being for the movie Disney. However, it has a very drawn-out narrative that “romanticizes” the historical figure of Pocahontas, a young indigenous woman who was kidnapped by the colonizers and ruined her life.

This era, known as the “Dark Phase” or “Dark Age”, was marked by a decline in the quality of animation and storytelling.

Here we follow two little mice who have to investigate a crime in the human world. This is where the most memorable character in the film comes in, the brutal Madame Medusawho kidnaps a child to steal a gem hidden in her teddy bear.
