Sicredi, one of the institutions that contribute most to the development of agribusiness in the country, has completed the 2021/2022 Harvest Plan, an important mechanism for stimulating national agricultural production, by allocating more than 1.1 billion reais in Santa Catarina. The total volume is about 11,500 lending transactions in rural areas, of which more than 7,000 were for the National Program for the Strengthening of Family Agriculture (Pronaf) for a total amount of 375 million reais, which is more than 60% of the transactions issued by the institution in the UK. With regard to the CPR – bonds that rural producers and production cooperatives can issue in order to obtain resources for the development of their enterprise – about 110 million reais were issued.

“At the national level, Sicredi is the second largest financial institution in the field of rural credit. In the last agricultural year, producers received 37.3 billion reais for more than 230,000 operations. This strengthens the commitment to sustainable economic development. We are the main players in agribusiness and we understand the importance of being closer and closer to rural producers in Santa Catarina,” explains Marcio Port, president of Central Sicredi Sul/Southeast.

Harvest plan 2020/2021

Sicredi has completed the 2020/2021 harvest plan with more than 950 million BRL in Santa Catarina, corresponding to more than 10,600 operations. Of this total, Pronaf was responsible for nearly 70% of rural loan origination by a co-operative financial institution in South Carolina.

“Sicredi’s strong performance in family farming means that the amounts granted reach more rural producers. This reinforces our sincere interest in supporting a sector that gives impetus to the sustainable growth of the local economy and to help increase incomes and employment, as well as improve the quality of life in the communities where it is present,” explains Port.

Strengthening its vocation as a cooperative financial institution committed to the development of the regions in which it is present and supporting members in their diverse needs, Sicredi recorded a 36.5% increase in its loan portfolio in 2021 to R$ 133.1 billion. , the amount of resources that contributes to the virtuous cycle of cooperativism.

“It is important to support collective and sustainable growth, as there is no point in promoting the local economy if the value created is transferred elsewhere. Such a move only makes sense if the investment returns to the same region. This is cooperativeism. By valuing and strengthening our city, our neighborhood, we form a single chain that will allow us to build a more prosperous society,” explains Port.

The share of loans intended for legal entities in 2021 amounted to 44.4 billion reais, which is 33% more than at the end of the previous year. “This result is the assurance that the member believes in the cooperative development model and understands the leading role of Sicredi and the positive impact it has on the regions where it operates,” emphasizes Port.
