Porto Itapoa, located on the north coast of Santa Catarina, is one of the first ports in Brazil to have a Federal Revenue Service dog kennel. The inauguration has an internal structure and allows the snuffers to stay longer in the place where they are used.

In cases where there is no kennel, the dog needs to return to the hostel base, which is often very far away. The kennel is just over 29 m² and can accommodate two dogs.

The IRS works with several dog breeds, the most common of which is the Belgian Malinois.

Porto Itapoa showed an increase of 12.13% compared to last year, taking into account the movement of TEUs between January and July, according to Antaq (National Water Transport Agency). As a result, the Santa Catarina terminal has become the port that has grown the most among the five largest ports in Brazil in 2022.

The port is a national landmark as it was one of the top five most trafficked in 2021. Coastal shipping (transportation between Brazilian ports) is one of the main factors affecting the figures, as this type of operation grew by 39% in Porto Itapoa.

In addition, the executive branch emphasizes a 6% increase in imports and a 3% increase in exports. “These are figures that demonstrate the sustainability of Porto Itapoá’s growth, as well as our relevance to the market,” says Porto Itapoá President Cassio Schreiner.
