Thursday (8) marks the start of the first day of slaughter with the Sisbi seal at Frigorífico São João, located in São João do Itapério, north of Santa Catarina. With this authentication, the meat produced is now allowed to be sold throughout the country.
The agreement between the City Hall and Cidasc with inspection by the municipal veterinarian on production is part of a set of several actions to ensure the quality of the final product.

Mayor Klecio José Fortunato (MDB) noted this achievement mainly because it will benefit the municipality. “We will get a significant return on the return of ICMS. Because with an increase in income, this will therefore significantly increase (…) our economic development,” the mayor explained.
The Sisbi seal serves to standardize the inspection of animal products in Brazil. In addition to reducing the sale of clandestine livestock products between states, this is helping to increase official trade in products with the growth of small-scale agribusinesses.
The São João Meat Processing Plant, founded in 1974, stands out for its performance. In partnership with Cidasc, he is involved in several producer incentives and meat improvement programs.
In 2019, the company created the BLACK 1950 brand, which is an in-house program focused on fat finishing, precocity and marbling of the cuts, and is still the 1st meat packer in Brazil to be ABCD certified by the Brazilian Breeders Association of Devon, which is British Breeds.
