Benidorm believes the COVID-19 crisis is over. Hotel owners are thrilled by the good occupancy data collected in the month of July in one of the holiday symbols of the Spanish Levant. After several seasons marked by health restrictions, hotels were at 87.5% in the second half of July, very close to 2019’s 89.5%.

forecast for august is that the trend is fixed until pre-pandemic levels are reached. In the first two weeks, an average occupancy of 85% is expected, although hoteliers believe that this threshold will be “exceeded” with a high probability, “since this is one of the vacation months par excellence.”

The hotels are currently operating at full capacity. Almost the entire hotel floor is open, with the exception of those establishments that are being renovated.

Foreign touristsWith British led, starred in the return of the most typical seasonal population of the city of Alicante, which closed July from 86.3% employment, down just 2.8 points from the year before the health crisis. In fact, Benidorm is the most internationalized tourist center of the Valencian Community, home to 51.5% of foreign tourists.

According to the latest report from Hospitality and Tourism Association of the Valencian Community (Hosbek), domestic tourism is Benidorm’s main sales market, accounting for 48.4% of visitors.

Among foreigners, the British lead with weight 32.9%. The Portuguese and Belgians represent 5.5% and 2.3% respectively. Similarly, travelers from the Netherlands, France, Romania and Ireland range from 2% to 1%.
