Almost 110,000 new companies were registered in Santa Catarina between January and June. The state currently ranks 6th among the federal states with the most active companies (over 1 million), as well as the 6th among the states with the most companies opened in 2022.

As for the legal form of companies in Santa Catarina, the “Individual Entrepreneur” form prevails: in the first half of 2022, more than 86 thousand companies were opened. In total, there are 621 thousand enterprises of this kind in the state.

The study also reports that the average time to open a new company in the region is one day and seven hours, 11 hours less than the national average.

More than 2 million companies were opened across the country in the first six months of 2022, according to Panel data.

Sao Paulo leads the states with the most companies opened in the first half of this year, with over 596,000 registered.

It is followed by Minas Gerais (212 thousand); Rio de Janeiro (168 thousand); Parana (140 thousand); and Rio Grande do Sul (120 thousand people). On the other hand, the state with the lowest number of state-owned companies was Amapa with 3,975.

There are currently over 19.6 million active companies in Brazil. Sole proprietorship is the most numerous modality, with almost 13.8 million active companies. Then comes “Limited Liability Company” with 4.7 million.

In terms of economic activity, retailing of clothing and accessories is the largest in Brazil, with more than 1.06 million active companies. This is followed by hairdressing, manicure and pedicure with 799 thousand rubles.
