The ten municipalities in southern Santa Catarina have been considered the benchmark for entrepreneurship in the state due to the work done by municipal governments to reduce service bureaucracy and improve the business environment, either through the Cidade Empreendora of Sebrae program or through the state government’s SC Bem Simpler project.

The recognition came on June 14th and 15th during the Brasil Mais Simples Seminar organized by Sebrae in Florianopolis. On this occasion, the importance of reducing bureaucracy in order to improve the business environment was discussed, and 59 towns in Santa Catarina received the “Entrepreneurial Municipality” seal. Among them, Crisium is the largest city in the south of Santa Catarina with a population of almost 220,000 people.

“This is an acknowledgment of the leadership that has worked in recent years to improve the business environment, effectively making Crisium a recognized entrepreneurial city to live in, live and invest in. The partnership with Sebrae has also helped us a lot in this whole process of reducing bureaucracy,” notes Aldinei Potelecki, Director of Economic Development, Technology and Innovation at Criciúma.

Since 2020, the municipality has been participating in the Entrepreneurial City program. During this period, he implemented Casa do Empreendor, changed municipal laws in favor of entrepreneurship, launched Inova Criciúma, which invests 250,000 reais in local start-ups, and has recently achieved success as one of the five fastest starting Brazilian cities. , about 4 hours. Tubarao in the south of the state was also commemorated at the event with the seal of “Municipal Entrepreneur” and is one of the cases of Sebrae’s Cidade Empreendora program.

Since joining the initiative, the municipality has created the Tubarão Mais Simples program, sanctioned by the Complementary Law, which reduces barriers to opening, licensing, permits, among other processes for companies with low complexity, that is, with activities that do not endanger health and environmental safety and have a low potential for contamination.

“The work to reduce bureaucracy to promote entrepreneurship in Tubarao has just received another award. This time, the city received the seal of the Empreendor municipality, provided by Sebrae/SC as part of the Cidade Empreendora programme,” emphasizes Tubarão development agent Adriana Caporal.

Another highlight of the award was Morro da Fumasa. The municipality is working to reduce the bureaucracy of the city’s operating systems, create new laws on taxes and economic incentives, train qualified personnel, and other actions for the economic development of the city.

“It was very important to receive this recognition because it is something new for our municipality. No administration has ever looked at entrepreneurship with such a vision to encourage and provide opportunities for those who want to invest here, especially micro and small entrepreneurs,” said Deputy Mayor Eduardo Sartor Guollo.

Another vibrant city was Turvo. “The municipality has made great strides in several sectors, mainly in reducing the bureaucracy in starting companies. We have changed the tax laws and soon we will have the Entrepreneur’s Room, which will be a great opportunity for those who want to start their own business. Receiving the seal further motivates us to continue this work of promoting the growth of new businesses, thereby creating more jobs and income for our population,” said Maria Stela Bristo Brina, Director of Industry and Trade at Turvo.
