The beginning of the month is the period when many people go to the supermarket to guarantee themselves what they need for the next few weeks. And in Joinville, north of Santa Catarina, a survey published by Procon should help consumers who want to save money on these purchases.
Published in early June, a survey of ten establishments shows that the average price of a basic food basket increased by 2.39% compared to the previous month.
Tomato paste (35.97%), washed potatoes (19.78%), corella banana (19.21%) and cassava flour (18.48%) rose the most. On the other hand, some products became cheaper, such as carrots (-42.90%), garlic (-21.97%), onions (-12.57%) and black beans (-9.51%).
The survey also shows that the price difference between supermarkets can be as high as R$129.41, as it ranges from R$230.09 to R$359.50 between the establishments surveyed.

The survey was conducted from June 1 to 3, and supermarkets are not required to maintain the same prices on subsequent days.
