Another work to revitalize urban space was presented in Blumenau. We are talking about the delivery of Victor Conder Square, where a stage was built, symbolizing a number of improvements carried out by the mayor’s office. They began with the completion of Unifique Station Square, which was commissioned in July this year.
Shortly before the start of the 38th Oktoberfest Blumenau, which will take place from October 4 to 29, the mayor’s office created a new space in the square that will serve as a place of trade and interaction. According to the mayor of the city, Mario Hildebrandt, the humanization of the surroundings of Victor Conder Square is of strategic importance to increase the circulation of people in this space.
“Stands are part of German culture, which is why we decided to build one in Blumenau. And there is nothing more beautiful than doing this next to one of the most attractive postcards in Blumenau – Praça da Prefeitura,” he assesses.
Hildebrandt emphasizes that the empty and dark Victor Conder Square has become a place for families to relax and enjoy local cuisine. “Now the stage is gaining strength, which will undoubtedly have beautiful cultural and artistic attractions not only during the Oktoberfest period, but throughout the year,” he adds.
Repositioning the photo portal
When reviving Place Victor Conder, some details were carefully thought out. One of these is the repositioning of the “Ich Liebe Blumenau” photo portal, which has been moved to a more visible angle and which will also improve pedestrian safety by creating a physical barrier.
Landscaping was another job that involved labor organization. The renovation included a composition of the municipal flag, musical note, capybara and flowers to help decorate the space.
The bandstand, which aims to fill this gap by providing a suitable venue for musical and cultural performances, has also been studied to ensure public access via a ramp.
Planning Minister Eder Boron believes that the mayor’s office is increasingly taking care of the city, turning public spaces into humane places, into social spaces where families can communicate with each other.
“Victor Conder Square had the potential for tourism trade, and with this environmental revitalization we are attracting even more people here to one of the most postcard-perfect sights in the city – Blumenau City Hall,” he comments.
To pay for the construction, the cost of revitalizing Victor Conder Square amounted to about 146 thousand reais from the Municipal Urban Planning Fund. The work was developed and managed by the Secretariat of Urban Planning (Seplan) with the support of the Secretariat for the Conservation and Maintenance of Cities (Seurb).
