A teenager was killed and three others were injured after an attack near a school on Tuesday afternoon (10). The incident occurred in the Jardim Santa Rosalia area in Poços de Caldas in the southern state of Minas Gerais – about 455 km from the capital Belo Horizonte. A former student of the institution, a 14-year-old teenager, was detained on suspicion of assault.
Military police said the victims were stabbed as they left the classroom. The victims were rescued by firefighters and Samu (Mobile Emergency Services) crews.
They were taken to Santa Casa de Pozos de Caldas. Two were seriously injured. one of whom required surgery. Despite saying it was being mobilized to treat the victims, hospital officials said they were unable to release other details about the students’ condition.
Teenager captured
Police said the victims were selected at random. The suspect struck two 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old, and the age of the fourth victim was not released.
The teenager, identified as the author of the attack, was held by members of the public until police arrived. He was taken to the city police department. The knife used in the crime was also seized.
The motive for the attack has not yet been clarified. Witnesses said that the perpetrator of the crime was the ex-boyfriend of a school student. However, police said it was too early to link the incident to a crime. The case is under investigation.
