The TCE (State Audit Office) found that child vaccination in Santa Catarina is experiencing a “catastrophic decline”. According to a study by TCE, all 10 types of childhood immunizers fall short of the target set by the National Immunization Program.

Vaccines aimed at protecting children: BCG, rotavirus, pneumococcal-10, meningococcal C, pentavalent, triple virus, tetravirus, yellow fever, polio and hepatitis A.
According to TCE, the survey, conducted by the Office of Special Events, will be sent to all 295 municipalities in the state and the State Department of Health so that they can take effective action to achieve the set percentages.
TCE will also participate in an inspection during this semester to analyze and look for reasons for the low enrollment compliance identified in the survey.

Influenza or influenza vaccination is an example of low adherence in Santa Catarina. According to the study, within the priority groups, the use of immunization has been low and has been declining in recent years.
In the pediatric population, only 39.37% received the vaccine before this Monday (17). Last year, this percentage was 61.2%, and in 2021 it is 76%.
Among pregnant women, 51.19% were vaccinated in 2023, 48% in 2022, and 77.1% in 2021. The vaccination rate for the elderly this year was 53.32%, a decrease from 65.6% last year and 67.3% in 2021. The target for all of them was 90%.
