Everyone loses in family wars. This applies to us commoners as well, but the royal family is no exception. After a tornado caused by an ejection Fire, Prince Harry’s autobiography, now tallying the damage with the first royal popularity polls since the prince’s revelations. It is difficult to talk about winners and losers: apparently, all family members involved in the case lost. The popularity of William and Kate is declining, as are Harry and Meghan.

A new survey conducted by Ipsos in the UK following the publication of The Duke of Sussex’s book shows a few percentage points in the popularity of several members of the royal family. William recorded the worst drop with an eight percentage point decline.. After all, the Prince of Wales was perhaps the main target of his brother’s criticism, who accused him of “selling” him to the press to gain attention and recounted several unflattering episodes about him. In second place as a drop, we find Kate Middleton (-7%), who has also been hit hard by Harry’s story and is described as a perfectionist obsessed with protocol and never willing to truly greet Meghan. However, keep in mind that the Princes of Wales started with very high approval ratings and therefore, despite the decline, remain among the most popular members of the royal family with 61% approval ratings for William and 60% for Kate, respectively.

Harry and Meghan, by contrast, have been in decline for some time (with a slight rebound in September after the Queen’s death), finishing last in the rankings of the closest members of the royal family behind William, Kate, the Princess. Anne, King Charles, Prince Edoardo and Camilla with a 23% approval rating for Harry and 19% for Meghan. Result Fireeven the Sussexes did not help: Prince after the publication fell by 7%, and Meghan by 5%. From the looks of it, insults, complaints, and accusations were never liked, and Harry had failed, at least not yet, to elicit the long-awaited sympathy by telling his story.
