Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) ordered a recall on Tuesday (18) and banned the sale of two shipments of Garoto brand chocolates.
The reason is the possible presence of small glass fragments, which can cause damage to the oral cavity or mucous membranes.
Products to be withdrawn from the company’s circulation:
- Lot 225212941G: milk chocolate with cashew nuts, Garoto brand, 80 g tablet, expiration date 09/09/2023
- Lot 225312941G: milk chocolate with cashews and raisins, Garoto brand, 80 g tablet, expiry date 09/09/2023
According to the agency, the company itself began collecting the aforementioned batches after it discovered that one of the equipment used to produce chocolates was defective and could leave glass fragments in the dragee.
Anvisa said in a statement that Chocolate Garoto Ltda warned that most of the products of the parties involved were not commercialized. However, some products were sold even in Vila Velha, Espiritu Santos; and in the state of Santa Catarina.
If you bought Garoto milk chocolate, in 80g tablet, with “Castanhas de Caju” or “Castanhas de Caju e Uvas Raisins” flavor, check the product lot on the back of the label, next to the seal.
If the numbers match the records announced by the company, it means you can’t eat. For an exchange or refund, you must contact the manufacturer’s support service at 0800 055 95 50 Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, except holidays, or by e-mail [email protected] .br.
R7 and report BUT+ contacted the Nestlé consulting company responsible for the production of Garoto chocolate by phone, but have not received a response yet.
