A phone call saved a woman from her husband’s aggression in San Miguel do Ouest, in the far west of Santa Catarina. 190 PM (military police) got a call around 4:20 am on Sunday (16). On the other end of the wire, a woman tried to call for help.
According to the Prime Minister, the call was bad and the woman did not say what exactly was going on and where she was. Nevertheless, the military man who answered the call managed to hear the word “police station” and asked the garrison to go to the address.
On Via Rodolfo Spir, in the Salete district, in front of the civilian police station, the military saw a parked GM/Corsa vehicle. The police approached and there was a couple inside the car. According to the police report, the man was clearly intoxicated and the woman had facial injuries.
The military fire brigade was called to help the victim. The woman told police she was at a party at a concert hall in San Miguel do Ouest when the couple had an argument and her husband assaulted her.
The woman told the police that her partner drove her to the police station and on the way continued the aggression, hitting her head on the dashboard of the car and squeezing her neck to suffocate her. The man reportedly said he knew “nothing would happen” by allowing the woman to call 911.
The man was arrested by the Prime Minister for minor injuries in connection with domestic violence in accordance with the María da Peña law and taken to the civilian police station.
