According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism, Santa Catarina is the second most optimistic state in Brazil for the high season. A positive balance in the creation of temporary jobs should contribute to the economic recovery of the sector.
October, November and December events should be a lever for new employees in hotels, bars, restaurants, etc. And the search has already begun.
The temporary hire scenario in Santa Catarina is larger compared to last year. In August 2021, the balance was negative, with 538 fewer vacancies formed. During the same period of this year, 69 people were hired. Reopening optimism promises more job growth, at least that’s what Fecomércio/SC predicts.
In Crisium, in the south of the state, the CDL (Chamber of Store Owners) expects to open about a thousand temporary jobs in the city’s retail by Christmas. In Balneario Camboriu, on the north coast, job opportunities should emerge in the high season, mainly due to new tourist attractions and already scheduled cruise stops.
Something similar should happen in other regions. A survey of business with agencies and tour operators in Brazil shows that in Santa Catarina, 56.7% of the sector’s activity remains stable with vacancies. For 38.1% of respondents, new employees will be required.
