The “walk” of an exotic bird amused the inhabitants of Pomerode, in the Itajai valley. The emu, an extremely rare bird in the region, was seen parading through the streets of the Wunderwald district and drew laughter from those who witnessed the scene.
The episode took place last Saturday (20). A local resident decided to film the bird parade and the images have since gone viral on the internet. The woman even joked about the situation: “Look what we found while walking around the center of our city,” she says through laughter.
The bird is rare in Brazil.
According to environmental educator José Sommer, this bird is considered the “cousin” of the ostrich and is quite rare in this region, as it comes from Oceania.
The emu is the second largest land bird species in the world. Also, according to the biologist, the animal most likely escaped from captivity, since it is unnatural for a bird to live in our fauna.
