From this Friday (15), municipalities with an electorate of more than 100,000 must allow ordinary polling stations to receive votes in transit, which is only allowed in these places. The date is indicated in the electoral calendar.
This measure must be followed to allow the voter to request a vote in transit, the deadline of which starts next Monday (18th) and runs until August 18th. During this period, the citizen may designate a place outside of his electoral residence where he intends to vote.
Voting en route is only permitted for voters whose status is regulated. Any person outside their own state can only vote for the President of the Republic. Voters who are outside their city but in a municipality located in the same state will be able to vote for all contested positions.
This method does not apply to electronic voting machines installed abroad, however, a Brazilian voter who lives outside the country but will be in Brazil during the election period can apply to vote while in transit.
The first round will take place on October 2, when voters will go to the polls to elect the president of the republic, governors, senators, federal, state and district deputies. A possible second round of the presidential race and state governments will take place on October 30th.
