Cases of domestic violence are shown daily, some with tragic outcomes, while others remain “clean” for fear of being reported. The case, which will be described below, became known and got on surveillance cameras. It happened in a condominium in Joinville, north of Santa Catarina, last Saturday (25). (See video below)
The footage shows how the couple’s fight began near the building, and then continued in the garage of the building. Several times the man pushes the woman and at a certain moment draws out a gun and begins to threaten her.
A possible tragic outcome was avoided by the duty military policeman. Sergeant Marco Maciel, who lives in the building, woke up because of the fight.
“I took a gun and went down to the scene to sort out the situation. When I went down the stairs, I saw that a man was attacking a woman. So I asked him to move away from her. He didn’t follow orders and then pulled out a gun to scare me and said he wasn’t going to leave,” says Sergeant Maciel, who didn’t use a weapon at first, but simply tried to talk and convince the aggressor. move away from the woman and drop your weapon.
Faced with the refusal of the aggressor, the exposed policeman decided to hide behind the wall until a convenient moment in order to again act using police techniques.
“I approached the attacker and managed to disarm him. At first he resisted, but then obeyed the order, lying on the floor. That’s when I took away his firearms,” continues the military policeman.
Also, according to the sergeant, because of the images captured by the building’s internal security system, the aggressor threatened the woman with death several times using profanity.
Sergeant Marco Maciel then called 190 and the garrisons soon arrived on the scene. The aggressor was detained for inflicting bodily harm, threatening and illegal possession of weapons. The Prime Minister took him to the police station.
“In addition to domestic violence, he had a weapon, and he freely walked around threatening his partner,” said a military police officer.
The couple was in a stable relationship for about two years. According to the sergeant, the man has records of violence, including over his own companion.
Sergeant Marco Maciel is keen to make it clear that he is trained to operate in this manner. “A citizen should not behave like this. You should call 190 and seek help from the military police, who know how to handle the situation,” he warns.
Fortunately, the aggressor was detained, and the outcome of this case was not as tragic as it could have been.
“We usually see such situations in our daily life, aggression against women, femicide. And the Military Police act precisely to prevent this kind of crime,” he adds.
According to the Observatory on Violence Against Women, 27 femicides have been committed in Santa Catarina this year alone and almost 10,000 protective measures have been required.
