Couples in love from Chapeco, in the west of Santa Catarina, intend to spend 199.28 reais on gifts for Valentine’s Day, celebrated on June 12th. The cost in 2021 was BRL 261.93. The data comes from a study of consumer intent by Fecomércio (Federação do Comércio de Santa Catarina) and Sicom (Sindicato do Comércio).
In Chapeco, 300 consumers were interviewed. In the state, the average spending will be R$143.71, slightly higher than last year’s R$142.62.
Among Chapecoense consumers, 37.4% prefer to gift clothes, 25% choose perfume/cosmetics, 13.9% prefer shoes/bags and 7.9% jewelry.
In addition, to give a gift on Valentine’s Day, 75.3% of Chapeco consumers will conduct a price survey. As for the place where shopping will be done, 53.7% indicated street retail, followed by shopping centers (25.8%) and the Internet through websites and virtual stores (11.1%).
Payment Methods
According to Sicom Pesquisas, which supported the Fecomércio poll in Chapecó, 84.1% of Chapecoenses opt for cash as a form of payment. Then comes the installment option with 15.8%.
The study was also carried out in the cities of Blumenau, Crisium, Florianopolis, Itajai, Joinville and Lages, during which 1,710 people were interviewed from 2 to 23 May.
