Farewell to 44-year-old actor Jeff Machado, found dead in the trunk in Rio de Janeiro, will take place this Saturday (27) in Ararangua, south of Santa Catarina, the city where he was born.

The family prepares, starting at 13:30, Mass in honor of Jeff at the temple of Nossa Señora Mae dos Homens. The burial then takes place in the Cruz das Almas cemetery, located on Avenida Getúlio Vargas.

The actor’s body is expected to arrive at dawn this Saturday in Ararangua. Due to severe decomposition, Jeff is being driven from Rio to Santa Catarina.

Unspecified cause of death

Jeff Machado’s autopsy report indicated that the actor’s death was more than 15 days old, but did not conclude what could have caused it, due to the severe decomposition in which the body was found.

Hypotheses for the cause of death are that strangulation, suffocation, or confinement took place.

An analysis by the Science Police confirmed that the actor’s body was found with a telephone cord wrapped around his neck, in addition to having his hands tied behind his back.

The remains were found last Monday (22) in a chest buried at a depth of two meters in a rented house in Rio de Janeiro. The tenant must be a friend of Jeff.

Lawyer Jairo Magalhães, who represents Jeff Machado’s family, told ND+ that the failure to determine the cause of the actor’s death should not preclude a possible murder charge in the future.

“This question is completely determined even by the state and form in which the body was found. And with this piece of wire around his neck. Although the cause of death was not clearly stated, there was a situation of suffocation.”

Who was Jeff Machado?
