The military police of Itapema, on the northern coast of the state, received information on the whereabouts of two suspected armed robbers in the city. However, the duo’s rapprochement ended in a chase and an accident. Two men were arrested early this Sunday morning (aged 26) for illegal possession of a firearm, reception and suspected robbery.

Looting has been reported in recent days in the Tabuleiros and Centro districts of Itapema, and according to the Prime Minister, there have always been two men as suspects.

Information reached the police that the duo were walking along Avenida Beira Mar, in the Center, and that one of the men had to show a revolver.

The garrison made a detour and decided to wait near the tunnel in the Tabuleiro area. At the scene, they saw a motorcycle with two passengers passing by with the beacon completely turned off.

The fact attracted the attention of the police, who approached the duo. However, a Honda/CG 125 Titan KS motorcycle fled through the central area of ​​the city.

At this point, the pursuit began and other garrisons were called in to support.

At the beginning of Avenida Governor Celso Ramos, the 22-year-old motorcycle driver lost control and fell to the ground, having an accident. The driver and passenger reacted and, according to the prime minister, force had to be used to restrain them. Both received multiple injuries in the fall.

The 16-year-old hitchhiker had a .38 revolver and six rounds of ammunition in his belt. He admitted that he has several cell phones in his house, and he cannot explain their origin. He also claimed that he would sell one of them to his brother.

The police went to the teenager’s place of residence, where they found three cell phones of dubious origin. Two of them were in good condition and had just rebooted, with no applications installed. The other had no battery and had a “women’s case,” according to the prime minister’s report.

The suspects also had a mobile phone, but during the approach they broke the electronics. The police explain that this practice is common among criminals, so it is impossible to collect evidence of the crimes they committed.

They were taken to the General Institute of Expertise (IGP) in Balneario Camboriu and then to the civilian police station. Also handed over were five cell phones and a motorcycle used in the escape.
