A forest fire in Cullera (Valencia) forced 60 people to evacuate this Saturday due to the proximity of their homes to the fire, as reported by the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Center on its social networks.

The fire was declared after 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, and at 5:15 p.m., Special Wildfire Risk Management Plan (PEIF) Situation 1 was activated due to potential damage to nearby homes.

PEIF Severity Level 1 is set when an emergency caused by one or more wildfires could severely affect forest assets or slightly affect people and non-forest assets, which may require the application of emergency measures.

The municipality’s local police have informed the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Center that 60 people have been evacuated and that no one needs help at the moment.

Two teams of forest firefighters from the Generalitat, two fire engines, an aircraft and an environmental agent are working to put out the fire.
