French municipal authorities on Tuesday found the body parts of a dismembered woman. Searches uncovered remains in a bag as well as on old train tracks crossing the Buttes Chaumont Park, a popular garden in northeast Paris.
The first traces of the crime were discovered on Monday (13), when park workers discovered part of the victim’s torso inside a bag around noon, François Dagno, mayor of the 19th arrondissement, told AFP.
According to witnesses, it was the victim’s pelvis and thighs. A police source clarified on Tuesday that the found body part still had “jeans”.
The bag, in turn, according to other sources, was in a grove inside the park.
The search continued, and on Tuesday, other body parts were discovered during the search, located on the old railway tracks that cross the park, the Paris prosecutor’s office explained. “Identification is ongoing,” they said.
The team launched a murder investigation to get to the bottom of the case, but have not yet been able to determine when the woman died. The park was closed to allow investigators to work, Dagno said.
