On Sunday morning (05) more than 70 drivers were arrested for speeding on a BR-470 in Ilhot, in the Itajai valley. The incidents were eliminated by the Federal Highway Police.

The maximum speed allowed on the site is 100 km/h for cars and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles. According to the corporation, during the two hours of the check, 77 drivers who exceeded the speed limit were detained.

The police have fined all the drivers caught, who will have to pay a medium to very severe fine depending on the percentage of speeding. The cost varies from 130.16 to 880.41 reais.

The Federal Highway Patrol also indicated that speeding increases the time it takes to brake, increases the likelihood that the driver will lose control of the vehicle, and reduces the ability to anticipate potential hazards ahead. This excess still increases the risk of accidents and severity of injury for participants.
