The footage shows the moment when the policeman and the aggressors leave a nightclub in the municipality of Tangara, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina.

A police officer was brutally attacked and shot in the leg while trying to sort out the confusion on Friday night (2). The footage shows the soldier walking out of the club, surrounded by five men pushing him, in addition to a guard trying to control the situation.

They pass through a gas station next to the club and walk towards the street. Burzanello shakes off the confusion and returns to the establishment, but in this sequence they leave again and the people around him attack the policeman with fists, kicks and kicks.

One of the rioters manages to grab a policeman’s pistol and shoots him. The soldier falls to the ground as the attackers leave the scene. The bullet fired at the policeman hit the thigh of his left leg. He was rescued and sent to Tangara Hospital, but due to the severity of his injury, he was transferred to HUST (University Hospital) in Joasaba.

According to the information provided by the medical team to the Prime Minister, the serviceman was injured in the femoral artery. He was taken to intensive care in a serious condition, but he could not stand it and died.

According to the prime minister, a group of people in the club’s bathroom could start a fight. Security asked the participants in the incident to leave the scene. However, the confusion continued, and the attackers attacked the guard.

Noticing the commotion, Burzanello’s soldier, who was off duty and watching the show on site, intervened in an attempt to calm the situation and end the fight. However, he also became the object of aggression. About five people realized that the policeman was armed and tried to get a revolver.

During the fight, one of the participants threw a rock at the police officers who were still inside the establishment. The second stone was thrown through the nightclub window.

To stop the attacks, the military police officer fired twice. The participants in the fight ran to the other side of the street, and one of them shouted: “This is a policeman”, inciting, according to the prime minister, the rest of the participants in the attack on the military and the guard.

arrest of suspects

According to the Prime Minister, four suspects, three men and one woman, have been identified and detained. In the house of one of them, the police found clothes still stained with blood. All were taken to the civilian police department. The case is under investigation.

The head of the civilian police investigating the case, Valdir Xavier, said that the civilian police had been called, and based on the images from the surveillance cameras, seven people had been involved. Six of those involved were arrested and one received a temporary arrest warrant.

“The last of them was arrested upon arrival in the city of Joasaba and taken to the checkpoint in Videira, where he was arrested at the scene of the crime. They will be heard in the custody case and are at the disposal of the Tangara District Judge,” he said.
