Adele told Latest Sightings that she was walking through the park and saw a chameleon in the middle of the road. She stopped to take a photo of him, thinking he had been run over. But she soon realized that there was something more going on. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND

A bright green snake emerged from the grass and headed straight towards the already bitten chameleon. Adele recognized the snake as a boomslang, a highly venomous type of snake that usually hunts birds and small animals in trees and on the ground. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND

The snake was frightened by the arrival of another car and hid in the vegetation. The chameleon took the opportunity and crawled to the side of the road.

Adele was in an awkward position, but she didn’t want to start the car, so as not to scare off the snake once again. She leaned into the passenger seat and continued filming the scene. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND

The snake returned for its prey and began to swallow it whole. He then dragged the chameleon into the tall grass and disappeared. Adele only realized she had witnessed a rare moment when she returned to camp and looked through the photographs. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND

She said she was sad about the chameleon, but also amazed by nature. She said it was a unique experience that she will never forget. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND

Thus ended the story of the helpless chameleon. – Photo: Adele Sneyd/Reproduction/ND
