“Back to the abyss, my friends. Again in the gap. […] In times of peace, nothing beautifies a person like calmness and modesty, but when the roar of battle sounds in your ears, imitate the actions of a tiger.

Many people recognize these words because they Shakespeare open monologue Henry V before the battle of Agincourt. Orations full of nobility, insolence, brotherhood and even redemption.

The Brotherhood, because he calls his army “a group of brothers”; boldly when he says “we, the few and happy”, knowing that they will have to face the French army led by Charles d’Albret which doubled their number. Atonement, because, as Enrique says, “he who sheds his blood with me today will be my brother. He will never be mean, today he will become noble.”

Epic is created by those who resist the most, or those who face the most hardship, win or lose, and on Monday night that epic seemed to have crossed the other side of the table too quickly.

The People’s Party, which clashed with the Prime Minister, decided to make this local and regional campaign a private matter. Decided that if this campaign was about anything, it was about opening his mouth for his re-election, which is supposed to happen at the end of the year when the legislature expires, since he was responsible for creating the purge so many times .

Prime Minister with a machine that was oiled for five years in Moncloa, plus the CIS, plus the Bank of England, plus a public conscience narrative that raised issues like SMI, minimum living income, or a pension system that, in fact, covered it up price rise. That is: higher taxes (this is cross applied as the first consequence of any announcement).

On Sunday night, the results were pouring in (at least it seemed to me). Two progresses in participation indicated greater mobilization in key fiefdoms and in those that are called in the jargon: battlefield or very very competitive places.

At the beginning of the count, there was no clear winner, and the rest … well, you already know the rest.

But there was nothing to digest the result of Sunday: on Monday I was looking at the results in specific places, when I was told that Pedro Sanchez announced the appearance from Moncloa. I ruled out a break with Podemos, at least from the side of Podemos, because they have 1100 people involved in public administration and the elimination of these positions and salaries (plus what is not salaries, but sounds like retribution) seemed difficult to me. I like to think that so much epic can be indigestible.

What’s more: in the face of a government crisis, I’d bet anything that the purples would give up anything to stay. Bringing 1100 people to the streets at once and getting out of the gradually losing (not irony?) representativeness … was a big risk.

But Pedro Sanchez could do it: he did it with Avalos, Bald, Oliver or Round, so doing this with Podemos would be a no-brainer. Moreover, as in the case of those mentioned above, there will be an echo of the phrase: “I did it again, because I can.”

That didn’t leave much room for that option, and in fact, around 10:59:59 am, I still believed the election would be in the exhausted legislature. Moreover, I bet all my chips on November 12th.

In the face of a government crisis, I’d bet anything that the Purples would give up everything to stay. Putting 1,100 people on the street at once and proceeding from a gradually losing (isn’t it ironic?) representativeness … it was a big risk ”

Where did that leave Podemos? Well, until then, I expected him to do the same thing that Vox did in Madrid and Andalusia: refuse to support budgets and thus cause a crisis, look for conflict, a differentiated position and justify the fight for the left.

But Pedro Sanchez again played Pedro Sanchez and took an unexpected turn: he informed His Majesty the King about this, convened a council of ministers, dissolved the Cortes and called elections. Well, between his visit to the king and the council of ministers, he announced the rest of the steps.

Now Podemos has trouble accumulating because, having started the legislature with a first vice president who was Pablo Iglesiasas a result, they had a tyrant (in the most Greek sense of the word) second vice-president, whom Iglesias himself appointed to this position.

A few weeks ago, everything was directed towards the fight for the left with a knife in the teeth between Yolanda and whoever led Podemos. Yolanda Diaz he openly smiled at the people of the Izquierda Unida or Compromís, but greeted, for anything less than a mere commitment, the people of the Podemos he met at the performances.

But the results obtained on Sunday now hinder their struggle and favor assimilation. Podemos is being pushed to join Sumar as it is the only way to keep some of those 1,100 jobs.

If you think it ends here for a party that intended to storm the sky, not at all, because Pedro Sanchez points out two tactics for these 51 days: the first is to identify PP with Vox, which they have already tried in Andalusia. and it worked a little worse than usual.

But, secondly, by winning the votes of the naturally left Podemos or Sumar, because the more votes will be provided, the more solid the new Frankenstein will come out. Pedro Sanchez has known for a long time that he will only survive through agreements, so my understanding is that he will want to agree as little as possible.

So, Yolanda Diaz, who was his white mark, is now his sparring partner. What can I say… if they don’t make Pablo Iglesias warm up.

If Enrique V spoke on Saint Crispin’s Day about nobility, courage, brotherhood and even redemption, today Podemos can only talk about one thing: salvation.
