A capybara weighing about 30 kg was trapped in a water collection tank at a facility along the SC-421 road in Pomerode, in the Itajai Valley. Factory workers found the rodent at the scene and called the volunteer fire department to rescue the animal at around 10:50 pm this Sunday (12).
According to rescuers, the animal was not injured and was removed from the tank with ropes. There is no information about how the capybara ended up there.
After the rescue, the capybara, which was considered small, was returned to its natural habitat. The animal was released on the banks of the Rio do Testo, which flows through the city.
