history of Valldemos

Few people know this story, and perhaps, apart from the people of Valldemos, few other residents of Mallorca know that two great historical figures lived and walked the streets of this small town Sierra de Tramuntana.

In November 1838, Valldemossa witnessed the arrival of two great personalities who, years later, would become known throughout the world for their artistic and creative abilities. These two people were nothing more, nothing less than a Polish composer Frederic Chopin and French writer George Sandwho were a married couple at the time and spent some time in a village charter house, now Real Cartuha, in search of a cure for tuberculosis, so common at the time.

Sand wrote a book called Winter in Mallorca and, contrary to expectations, the writer became the first physician in Mallorca. Since then, Valldemossa has lived its own special idyll with tourism.

What to see in Valldemossa?
