The government of Santa Catarina has extended the flu vaccination campaign through June 30 across the state. This measure was taken last Wednesday (31) due to an increase in hospitalizations, especially of children and the elderly, and the low vaccination coverage achieved so far of only 41%.

The dose is available to the entire population over 6 months of age from 12 May. According to the latest epidemiological bulletin published by Dive (Department of Epidemiological Surveillance), up to May 22, 318 severe cases of the disease have been confirmed, requiring hospitalization.

Of this total, 20 people died, most of whom were elderly people aged 60 years and older and children, most of whom had some risk factors and/or comorbidities.
