The City Hall of Blumenau has issued a smoke warning that will be in effect on two city streets this Monday (27). The action is carried out in order to combat the actions of mosquitoes, especially Aedes Aegypti, carriers of dengue fever.
Spraying will be carried out on two streets in the center, on the streets of Sete de Setembro and San José, near the Milium store and the San José cemetery.
The mayor’s office also emphasizes that smoke does not pose a health risk because it is used responsibly and at predetermined intervals. In addition, residents are encouraged to leave their premises open so that spraying is more efficient.
How smoke works
The action is to release a “cloud” of smoke with low doses of Cielo-ULV, which kills most adult mosquitoes. It is a very quick, simple and effective method that is widely used during epidemics to kill mosquitoes and prevent the transmission of diseases such as dengue, Zika or chikungunya.
