Chris Evans agrees with Tarantino on Marvel stars, Kevin Feige responds

The actor agrees with Tarantino that Marvel actors are not the stars of films, the studio president responded.

In a GQ profile about his life and career, Chris Evans said he agrees with one of the things director Quentin Tarantino has criticized about Marvel Studios films: that the studio has “killed” the concept of the movie star. And in the same interview, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, reacted to the actor’s performance.

Late last year Tarantino said “You have actors who became famous playingof these characters but they are not movie stars. Right? Captain America is a star. Or Thor is a star”. Thus, people went to the movies to see the characters, not the actors. Evans agrees in some ways.

“That was the beauty of working on Marvel films: you never had to be the center of attention.” – said Evans. “Sometimes even in my films. Quentin Tarantido said this recently and I thought he was right. The character is a star. You are here, but you don’t feel the weight of it.”

On the same issue, the magazine also interviewed Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, who spoke about his career and partnership with Evans, and when asked about Evans’ response, he replied:

“I believe that this is what [Chris] said this to myself, and I think this is what many of the Avengers, including Robert [Downey Jr., o Homem de Ferro]“, they told themselves, which actually helped a lot in the whole process. But in some cases, including Chris, that’s not entirely true.”

Chris Evans began to interpret Captain America Steve Rogers in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avengerand since then he has taken part in 11 films. Having finished his role as a character in Avengers: Endgame, Evans has consistently stated that he wouldn’t rule out returning to the role.
