The Witcher Producer Says Season 3 Will Deviate Even More From Original Story

The creator of the series previously said that the new year will be more like books

Witcher continues to cause controversy behind the scenes in the making of the third season, which is currently in post-production. Former creator, executive producer and showrunner from the series Lauren S. Hissrich, said that the new year would be a more faithful adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, but one of the producers in a new interview stated the opposite.

In an interview with ScreenRant, the producer Graham Marshall contradicts showrunner, saying that – at least in the final part of the season – there won’t be anything that was previously seen in games or books. He excitedly explained:

“In Season 3, we are struggling to release the final episodes, which is very cool. I don’t think it’s something that no one has seen or read before in the history of The Witcher, so I think it’s going to be really exciting.”

The third season is in post-production.

Previously, Hissrich told viewers that the third season would be the closest to the original material. “For me, Season 3 is the closest thing we’ve come to faithfully adapting the books.” the producer said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Obviously we can’t do it page by page, but ‘A Time of Contempt’ gave us a lot of great moments, plot moments, character-defining moments… So much to do that we were able to stay very, very close to the book.”

In the book Time for contempt we continue to follow the journey of Ciri, who is currently studying magic with Yennefer. According to the synopsis of the third season of the series, Ciri and Yen will go to Arethusa, continue their education as a princess, and there they will face the political and magical corruption of the city.

Third season Witcher does not yet have a release date.
