The Municipal Guard of Florianópolis collected this Wednesday (29) more than 50 lost license plates in the city, a direct reflection of the heavy rains ravaging the capital. Faced with this situation, authorities have offered guidelines to drivers to help them prevent future losses.
Ricardo Pastrana, Deputy Commander of the GMF, highlighted the increase in such incidents during flood periods: “We know that whenever such a situation arises, several drivers lose their license plates.”
Authorities said the found plates were stored at the municipal security base and cataloged in the organization’s system. To check if the lost number is among those collected, owners can call 153.
Advice on how to avoid losing license plates
In addition, the Municipal Guard provides advice on how to avoid losing license plates in future incidents. An important recommendation from Pastrana is to use double-sided tape on the back of the board in addition to the screws.
“The tape will allow you to secure the sign on your car much better, preventing it from falling when driving through a flooded area,” advised the deputy commander.
Pastrana explained that during flooding, water that gets into vehicle bumpers can tear off license plates. He also warned that if anyone finds a lost sign, they should turn it in to municipal guards so that it can be returned to the appropriate owner.
This situation highlights the importance of preventive measures during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding, not only for the safety of drivers, but also for the maintenance of their vehicles.
