A 10-month-old dog had to undergo emergency surgery after swallowing three socks. The animal, named Molly, lives in Dublin, Ireland, and is already recovering from the procedure.
According to the portal R7, the Bernedoodle animal was taken to the veterinarian after severe vomiting and refusal to eat. There, Molly underwent an x-ray, which revealed a foreign body in the stomach.
The veterinarian responsible for the dog’s case called it one of the strangest cases in the area. “We x-rayed Molly to identify a possible foreign body causing her symptoms. Although we couldn’t visualize anything, the gas pattern in his abdomen indicated a blockage,” he explained.

To remove foreign objects from Molly’s stomach, a surgical incision was made in her abdomen. This procedure is also called exploratory laparotomy.
It was only during the removal operation that a specialist determined that the foreign body was actually three socks. “We were very shocked to learn that this was due to sock ingestion,” said owner Molly Carril Hempenstall.
