Cidade do Idoso in Isar, in the south of Santa Catarina, aims to become a reference point in the field of care for the elderly and is getting closer and closer to breaking the ground.
The architectural design of the project has already been completed and the municipality is now seeking resources to carry out the work, amounting to approximately R$ 1.2 million. Sports, entertainment and medical events will be held on the territory.
The community will be able to directly contribute to financial resources through income taxes. Bidding is expected to take place in 2023, with the facility opening in 2024.
“We are pooling resources through the Senior Citizens Fund. Businesses in the city can contribute by contributing 1% of their income taxes. Individuals have the opportunity to contribute up to 6%. Therefore, there is confidence that this tax will be used to improve the quality of life of the residents of Isar and will not be spent in other cities,” emphasizes the mayor of Isar, Dalvania Cardoso.
Dalvania was recently in Brasilia to present the project to deputies and senators in order to achieve the adoption of parliamentary amendments. “We are optimistic. Elderly people should visit this place once, twice or three times a week, with professional support and nutrition. As a result, patients are healthier and families feel more at ease knowing they are in a safe place,” he said.
Old People’s City
The premises were previously used as Clube dos 50, but the structure was destroyed due to abandonment. Thus, the council transferred management of the property to the municipal government through a loan already approved by the city council. The assignment agreement is valid for ten years.
The property spans more than two hectares and features a party room, pool, cafeteria, walking path, bocce ball court, gym and games room. The project also includes water aerobics, Pilates, walking, stretching and much more.
“Doctors hired by the municipality will carry out an assessment to determine what types of exercise are suitable for the elderly person,” said Social Assistance, Housing, Labor and Income Minister Eduardo Zata.
In addition, this place will be exclusively for senior citizens over 60 years of age and residents of Isara and will be able to accommodate up to 500 people per month.
