A 19-year-old girl was seriously injured in a head-on collision on the SC-108 highway in Uroussang, south of Santa Catarina. The driver, who was driving behind, recorded the moment of the accident. The incident was recorded on the night of this Sunday (4).
The 42-year-old woman suspected of causing the accident was driving a Jeep Renegade at high speed in the opposite direction when it collided head-on with the vehicle, according to the military traffic police. A young woman and her 50-year-old mother were in the car.
The 19-year-old driver was found inside an overturned car, wearing a seat belt, with multiple fractures and a suspected head injury, according to the fire department. She was taken to the San José Hospital in Crisium.
The victim’s mother, 50, got out of the car with a cut and swelling on her nose and extensive abrasions.
The driver of the jeep was also conscious, with only light bruises on her right arm. She was taken to Nossa Señora da Conceicao in Uroussang.
At the station, the police carried out an alcohol test and the result was 0.94 mg/l, which is considered a traffic crime. After being released from the hospital, she was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Civil Police Center in Crisium.
However, the 19-year-old driver was unable to take the test due to the severity of his injuries. There is no update on her health.
