An 83-year-old elderly man living in a nursing home in the city of Porto Belo on the north coast of Santa Catarina died last Friday when he was crushed by an elevator (17). The man was squeezed between the elevator platform for people with disabilities and the second floor of a residential building.
Witnesses told the prime minister (military police) that the man was very nervous at the beginning of the night, that he needed to be taken to the hospital for medicine. In the elevator on the way to the room, an elderly man fell out of his wheelchair and crushed his head.
There, the nurse, who was on the top floor waiting for the elderly man to arrive, saw the moment of the fall and tried to block the elevator, but could not. Also, according to the prime minister, the technical manager of the company responsible for the elevator was on site and said that the preventive maintenance of the equipment was carried out up to date, and all documents were available.
To remove the body, the wall was broken. In addition to the prime minister and the fire department, civilian police and scientific police were on site.
