Convicted of murdering Adriana Sousa Nascimento and the seven-month-old baby she was expecting, Osmar Pereira Costa and Valdir Castillo Mota were sentenced to 60 years in prison. The two of them were tried this Wednesday (5) in Itajai on the north coast of Santa Catarina.
The trial began at 9:30 am and ended at 7:00 pm at the Itajaí Forum, both found guilty of murder with sophisticated brutality. Osmar was sentenced to 25 years and seven months in prison, while Waldeir was sentenced to 34 years and eight months in prison.
The two killed a woman in her seventh month of pregnancy on August 29, 2021 for a debt of 6,000 reais. According to prosecutor Jackson Goldini’s complaint, Osmar and Waldeir strangled the woman to death and then set fire to the victim and the child she gave birth to.

The MPSC convicted the defendants of murder with base motive, semi-violence, and ambush qualifiers. Both were also convicted for having an abortion without consent and hiding the corpse.
According to the complaint, one of the defendants had to call the victim to pay off the debt for the purchase of a car that belonged to a woman. She was lured into the car and killed by the second defendant, who was walking behind the victim. She died of suffocation.
The crime took place between Balneario Camboriu and Itajai. After killing the victim, the duo drove to the countryside of Itajai and set fire to the woman’s body.
