Santa Catarina is the second state in the country with the lowest percentage of adult debt defaulters. The data refer to April this year and are included in the Brazil Default and Reschedule Map prepared by Serasa.
According to the survey, 34.37% of adults in Santa Catarina failed to pay a bill or debt by the due date. The state was second only to Piaui with 33.23% defaulters.
The largest number of debtors was registered in Amazonas, where in April there were 52.55%. During the same period, Santa Catarina was below the national percentage.
The Serasa poll shows that 41.01% of Brazilians were in default in April and that this number is up 0.67% from March, marking the fourth straight month of debt growth.
In March, Santa Catarina had a default rate of 34.28% when it was also in second place.
Mapa also shows that in the national scenario, the main debt in April falls on banks and cards (28.14%). Next are the main bills such as water, electricity and gas, with 22.93%. Debts related to retail trade are in third place with a share of 12.49%.
As for the profile, Brazilians aged 26 to 40 stand out in the age group, who make up 35.5% of the total number of non-payers. Default affects 34.4% of people aged 41 to 60.
Women make up the largest number of indebted persons, accounting for 50.2% of the total. Among men, the default was 43.29%.
