A 24-year-old man was provisionally arrested by civilian police on Tuesday afternoon (6) on suspicion of being involved in the robbery of a family in the municipality of Chapeco in the west of Santa Catarina in April this year. Three other suspects were already in jail.
Deputy Elder Arruda Chavez of the Robbery and Theft Police Station said the suspect was arrested at the Alta Floresta unit. He testified and was later brought into the prison system.
The man is still suspected of committing three more robberies in the cities of Chapeco and Coronel Freitas (South Carolina). In addition, he was on the run, as on another occasion he cut open an electronic ankle bracelet he received when he was released from prison.
Three other suspects were arrested in Chapeco and Arvoredo, South Carolina. They are also in the penitentiary system.

It was about 11:15 p.m. when four armed men broke into the family’s home in New Vilas Loteamento, in Bairro Efapi, in Chapeco. Armed with threats and shouting, the bandits surrendered all the inhabitants of the village.
“The owner of the house got into a fight with one of the suspects, as a result of which he was punched and kicked, and another defendant pointed a firearm at the child’s head, asking for money and firearms,” the delegate said.
The perpetrators fled on cars, mobile phones, TVs and tablets of the victims.
