Wheat production in Santa Catarina was the only one where high prices were recorded in May this year. For the rest of the grain produced in the state, a fall was registered. The month ended with a 60 kg bag priced at R$98.82, up 4.48%.

The increase in wheat prices continued in the first half of June, with the price of a bag in the Santa Catarina market reaching 114.44 reais. The increase in product prices exceeds 15% compared to May 2021.
The increase in prices is due, among other things, to problems with the supply of fertilizers. Sales prospects for the new crop wheat are satisfactory, given the export restrictions imposed by some countries due to the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the Conab-Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento, in the 2021/22 season, the expected wheat production in Santa Catarina will be 353.4 tons, which is a record. The sown area was 101.4 hectares, which is 66% more than the previous crop.
Yields reached 3,485 kg per hectare, the second-best result in a historic evaluation series that began in 1977.
