A member of the City Council of Joinville, north of Santa Catarina, went to police to convict a member of the Legislative Chamber of the municipality for defamation and sexual harassment.
The situation was supposed to happen back in February of this year, but she found out about it only months later, when she turned to the police station and registered a statement with the police on May 26. According to the official, the incident took place during a meeting in the adviser’s room, in the presence of advisers and other employees.
She says that upon leaving the room, he would say, “I eat this and don’t eat anymore because I don’t want to,” referring to her. In her testimony, she told the police that she only learned about the incident in early May, from one of the people who was at the meeting and told what he would have said.
Knowing the situation, the victim called the adviser with a request to recant, but he would not do anything and still did not get in touch again to talk about this, so she went to the police station and registered a police report.
The city council said in a statement that “there have been no official reports on the aforementioned case. So you are not aware of the situation. As far as the Women’s Prosecutor’s Office is concerned, all cases referred to the agency and public services are confidential.”
The report tried to contact the adviser, but the phone is constantly switched off.
